Enchanted Threads Featuring A Walk in the Wild Call for Entry An exhibition of contemporary fiber art at the City of Albuquerque’s Open Space Visitor Center Gallery located at 6500 Coors Boulevard NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120. The opening reception will be Saturday, November 10, 2012, from 3-5pm. The exhibit will close Sunday, December 30, 2012. The exhibit will consist of two distinct parts. The first is Enchanted Fibers, which will feature art quilts with a Southwest theme that will be mounted on the gallery walls. The second part of the show, which will be held concurrently, is called A Walk in the Wild. It will be a unique exhibit of banner-shaped fiber art that will be hung from the ceiling in the center of the gallery. Visitors are intended to interact with these pieces by walking through them. One application fee and one entry will cover one or both of these exhibits; you may apply for either or both. ELIGIBILITY All work must meet the definition of an Art Quilt: a contemporary artwork exploring and expressing aesthetic concerns common to the whole range of visual arts, which retains, through materials or technique, a clear relationship to the folk art quilt from which it descends. Applicants must be current members of SAQA with New Mexico as one of the regions on their membership. In addition, only original artwork, conceived and created by the entrant(s), will be considered; no patterns, kits or copies are allowed. Works that are produced by more than one artist must have all listed as entrants . Non-refundable entry fee is $30 for up to TWO entries for EACH part of the exhibition. Please make checks payable to SAQA, and mail them to Betty Busby, 14306 Oakwood Place NE, Albuquerque, NM 87123. SELECTION Exhibited works will be juried by the SAQA New Mexico Exhibition Committee. IMAGE REQUIREMENTS Please submit one digital image of each submitted work by email to Betty Busby at fbusby3@comcast.net. Save your images as JPEGs, 2100 pixels on the longest side. Be sure to label your images with your last name, and the title; for example, gould-moonrise. Images must be in sharp focus. The quilt should be photographed on a plain white background with no hanging devices, pins, tacks or other extraneous items visible and the quilt should be as straight as possible. Poor quality images will affect the jurors' decisions. If an entrant disregards the requirements, their quilt(s) may be disqualified. The committee reserves the right to refuse works that differ significantly from images submitted, are not in good condition, or are not appropriate for the exhibition/venue. | ENTRY REQUIREMENTS—ENCHANTED FIBERS Ø Work should relate to a Southwest theme; can be representational or abstract.
