Theme:
Since the dawn of history, humans have used plants and animals to cure the sick, heal wounds, and promote health.
Our
challenge is to represent one or more of these items, in a
representational or abstract way, on a quilt that is 20” wide by 30”
tall.
You may find inspiration in traditional or modern medicine.
To prevent duplication of subjects, please email me Fbusby3@comcast.net with the topic you are considering so I can check to see if it’s already being done.
For instance, I am planning to do willow (source of aspirin) and sea urchin-
Michelle will do blueberries and lemons....so don’t do any of them.
Eligibility
All
work must meet the definition of an Art Quilt: “The art quilt is a
creative visual work that is layered and stitched or that references
this form of stitched layered construction.”
Applicants must be current NM SAQA members residing in any
state. Only original artwork, conceived and created by the entrant (s)
will be considered; no patterns, kits or copies. All artists
collaborating on an artwork must be listed as entrants and sign the loan
agreement.
Selection
The
work will not be juried as long as it fulfills the instructions and is
delivered on time. Out of state residents are responsible for shipping
and insurance both ways.
In
the event that there are too many entries for the display space at the
Church, work will be hung in a rotating basis throughout the duration of
the show.

The work is covered by SAQA insurance while hanging.
Mercado
SAQA members have the opportunity to sell additional items related to their artwork at the church from 9am- 12:30 pm on October 18.
This is an excellent opportunity, sales have been substantial in the past.
