I hope everyone had a wonderful kickoff to summer over the Memorial Day Weekend. Our last meeting was on May 18th in Santa Fe. The show and tell was inspiring as usual and the comments and stories from those who attended the conference were encouraging. I hope you all are able to attend a conference at some point. Next year it’s in Washington DC, May 1-4. Think about it!
Our next pot luck meeting will be in Albuquerque at the Ambassador for Christ Community Church at 11:00am. I will send directions with the newsletter about one week before that meeting. For this meeting plan on bringing a photo “you” have taken that you think might be inspiration for a quilt. Be ready to tell us why or how you are inspired. Is there something about the subject or fantastic lighting or color? Or maybe it’s about pattern, texture or line?
A New Exhibition opportunity from our exhibition committee is explained below. Please see the attachment/entry form for this exhibit. This should be great fun; not too big, simple challenge with fabulous possibilities! Please consider entering this one. Note the deadline for entry is October 15. Have fun!
Also keep in mind Beyond Tradition in Ruidoso April 2014. Entries for that show are 24" min., 65". Max. Entries will be taken from September through January. We also discussed having the April 2014 meeting in Ruidoso for the opening of this show. We will have hotel and other information about this in the future.
Announcing a SAQA challenge, A Color Runs Through It.
The works should be 18x24", vertical or horizontal orientation.
Black, white, and any shade in between can be used plus one color- abstracts and representational work welcomed.
The initial showing will be at the Silver City Fiber show, November 15 & 16 2013.

November 16 , 2013: pick up work at the venue OR in Albuquerque or Santa Fe November 20.
Entry fee only $10.00- checks should be made out to SAQA and mailed to Betty Busby, 14306 Oakwood Ol, Albuquerque NM 87123.
Out of state and in state SAQA members are eligible to enter, entrants are responsible for shipping both ways.
