NEW EXHIBIT AT THE ROTUNDA

HANDMADE ARTISTS’ BOOKS FEATURED AT STATE CAPITOL ROTUNDA GALLERY
The New Mexico Capitol Rotunda Gallery in Santa Fe presents an exhibit of contemporary book art from Friday, September 6, through Friday, December 13, 2013. All of the artists are members of the Santa Fe Book Arts Group (BAG). They used a wide range of materials and techniques to create the books, including a variety of bindings (accordion, Coptic, longstitch, stab), content (calligraphy, photography, poetry), forms (pop-ups, altered books, boxed books, sculptures), and paper (handmade, commercial, decorated).
Dr. Cynthia Sanchez, Executive Director of the Capitol Art Foundation, is the curator. This is the fifth time that the New Mexico Capitol Art Foundation invited Santa Fe BAG to exhibit in the juried show.
The exhibit opens with a public reception on Friday, September 6, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm; everyone is welcome to attend. Thereafter the gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Attendance is free for both the reception and the exhibit.
New Mexico’s State Capitol building is at the northwest corner of Paseo de Peralta and Old Santa Fe Trail. For more information call (505) 986-4589, or visit www.nmcapitolart.org/default.aspx. The Santa Fe Book Arts Group provides resources and opportunities for book artists to learn and share the skills of their craft. BAG consists of approximately 150 active members who participate in workshops, exhibits, and collaborative projects. For more information about Santa Fe BAG, visitwww.santafebag.org.
